What started as a simple backyard-style get-together 13 years ago (we don’t mention the dreaded 2020 year that we had to skip the fun) has since grown into one of our favorite days of the year.
In the early days, it was a parking lot party with a local band or two playing out of the big garage doors, a few folding tables, cold beer to share, and a community of people who just wanted to enjoy a summer afternoon together. The purpose was simple: to bring people together over good music, great craft beverages, and even better company.
Thirteen years later, that same spirit is still at the heart of our Picks n’ Pints event.
Sure, the event has grown and changed. We’ve added several bands to the lineup, delicious food vendors and other awesome local businesses, plus our array of craft beverages has increased tenfold. But the goal hasn’t changed: create a place where friends can gather, discover new music, support local artists and artisans, and celebrate summer with the community.
Live Music
This year’s festival features an incredible lineup of live music that will keep the energy going from start to finish. Paul Atkins will kick us off right at 12:30pm with acoustic covers of pop and rock songs from the 70s to the 2000s! See if you can spot the occasional deep cut thrown in for good measure too.
Next up is Nancy Tobiason-Kramer at 2:30pm with a wide variety of genres that you're sure to sing along to!
Into the evening, we have Rae Rusnak, also known as “Free Ranger” at 4:30pm. Free Ranger plays upbeat blues, swing and rock covers, along with originals on electric guitar and harmonicas.
As the sun begins to set, Orchid Jane will hit the stage at 6:30pm with unique acoustic versions of favorite songs including mash-ups that audiences love.
Finishing off the night at 8:30pm is the Double Down Daredevils playing bluegrass/americana featuring 3-4 part harmonies in almost every song.
Cold Drinks
Whether you’re dancing on the patio or relaxing on a bench with a drink in hand, there’s no better way to spend a summer day.
Of course, no Picks n’ Pints would be complete without plenty of Kinney Creek favorites on tap. From craft beers to refreshing hard seltzers, there’s something for every taste and every toast.
It’s the perfect opportunity to revisit an old favorite or discover a new go-to!
Good Eats
Come hungry because NEW local food vendor, Oak & Embers Smoke Show, will have their deliciously smoked meats, along with sides for all to enjoy. Taste the finest Texas-style BBQ available throughout Southeast Minnesota, right here in Rochester! Pair your meal with your favorite beverage, catch up with friends, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere that has made this event a tradition for so many.

Be sure to check out our vendors while you’re here! We’re excited to welcome several local businesses and artisans to this year’s festival, making it easy to sip, shop, and support local all in one place.
Brine Creek Pickle Co. returns with their bold selection of pickles, hot sauces, and other flavor-packed creations that always draw a crowd.
Also back this year is Barking Dozen, featuring dog treats made from our brewery’s spent grain—perfect for festival-goers bringing their pups along for the day.
Layered Intentions returns with their creative 3D printed designs, blending art and innovation in a way that’s always fun to browse.
New this year, we are excited to welcome Whisperwood Treats with handcrafted sourdough goodies that are sure to be a highlight.

Picks n’ Pints has always been about more than what’s in your glass. It’s about supporting local musicians, local businesses, and creating a place where neighbors, friends, and families can spend time together.
